Using intermediaries in care proceedings to ensure effective participation of vulnerable clients

This article looks back at how, when and why intermediaries first came to be used in court proceedings, before turning to the specifics of their use in care proceedings. Examining the different types of situation where an intermediary might assist, the article goes on to consider the practicalities of obtaining permission to appoint one, and finishes with a review of the relevant case law.
