This article is the second installment of a three piece series which sets out the law and good practice that practitioners should be aware of when working with parents with learning difficulties/disabilities. In this article, we focus on what the assessment process for parents should look like and what adaptations practitioners should expect from social workers who will conduct parenting assessments and teaching work. This article also expands on the issue of support for parents and what considerations come into play, looking more widely than just children services support packages and reflecting on the duties imposed by the Equality Act 2010.
