The Resolutions-Model Assessment is most often used in care proceedings where there has been a non-accidental injury findings made against the parent/s and one/both deny perpetrating the injuries.
The assessment works on the basis that the parents are in denial. Unlike a typical ISW assessment it does not require the parents to admit to the findings in order to demonstrate insight. The assessor will consider the risks in the case and split them into static and dynamic and utilise hypothetical questioning. In order for the assessment to be positive there almost always needs to be a large family network which can support the parents.
