Garry Sturrock, a senior solicitor at Brodies LLP in Aberdeen, writes that in a landmark vote in the Scottish Parliament in February 2018, the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Bill, which promised to offer a tougher approach to the prosecution of domestic abuse in Scotland, was passed.
The Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act 2018 received royal assent on 9th March 2018 and will come into force on the 1st of April this year.
