The Singapore Court of Appeal, the highest court in Singapore, recently had the opportunity to make a number of important observations on the validity and effect of prenuptial agreements in the case of TQ v TR. This commentary is focused mainly on the legal view of prenuptial agreements relating to the division of matrimonial assets upon a divorce. It discusses whether prenuptial agreements are valid in Singapore and the extent to which they are enforceable or relevant in disputes on financial issues during matrimonial proceedings.
