It has always been vitally important for family practitioners to consider whether a maintenance order should increase in line with inflation (‘indexation’). This country, and most of the developed world, are living through a period of high inflation; in the current climate, the importance of considering indexation is unequivocal. This article discusses why it is important to do so, and what the financial consequences for clients may look like.
