Following a Freedom of Information request to 174 local authorities across England and Wales, and having received 119 responses, the NSPCC has issued a press release saying:
"Children who have experienced sexual and domestic abuse, could currently find it hard to get the specialist support they need.
- Data shows only 23% of local authorities say they offer specialised support for children in the form of independent and specially trained advisors.
- Our analysis highlights lack of support from local authorities for children who have experienced domestic or sexual abuse.
- We are calling for the government to prioritise funding for services for children as Victims and Prisoners Bill goes through Parliament."
