New care applications at an all-time high for the month of March

Latest figures released by Cafcass reveal that new care applications received in March 2016 are at an all-time high for the month of March.
In March 2016, Cafcass received a total of 1,221
care applications.
This figure represents a 14% increase
compared to those received in March 2015 and a 25% increase compared to March 2014. Cafcass received a total of 12,741 care applications in 2015-2016. This figure is 14.2% (1,582 applications) higher than demand in 2014-2015 and 20% (2,121 applications) higher when compared to the 2013-14 financial year.
The latest quarter of 2015-16 (Jan-Mar) has seen exceptionally high demand, an increase of 19.1% when compared to the same quarter in 2014-2015.
The 1,228 care applications recorded in February 2016 marked the highest ever applications received by Cafcass.
