Law Commission consultation

The Law Commission has launched a consultation on law reform and is seeking suggestions for changes.

In view of the current economic situation, the eleventh law reform programme is particularly interested in projects that support the drive to reduce waste and inefficiency.

It is also likely that the Law Commission will propose introducing legislation governing pre-nuptial contracts and will look closely at the forthcoming Supreme Court Radmacher decision. 

The new chairman of the Law Commission, Lord Justice Munby, has written the Comment in July's Family Law journal. Lord Justice Munby, who is the first chairman appointed from the Family Division for 45 years, is particularly interested in the views of family practitioners as to whether or not the Commission should embark upon a review of the law of ancillary relief and related topics.

Those interested in submitting a proposal for a change to the law can respond online, by printing off the questionnaire, filling it in and posting it to the Law Commission, or by completing the questionnaire in Word and emailing it to them.

The closing date for responses to reach the law Commission is Friday 15 October.
