Inaugural family law prize to be awarded by Resolution

A promising young lawyer from Warrington will receive national recognition for her outstanding performance in family law tomorrow as she collects the inaugural Resolution prize from the 5,500 strong lawyers' association. The Resolution prize is awarded to the student with the highest mark in the family law paper across The College of Law's seven nationwide centres.

Jennifer Dumencic, 23 will be given the £500 prize by Resolution chairman Nicholas Longford at a ceremony at The College of Law in Chester on Friday. Jennifer's 96% mark in her family law paper for the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the college has netted her the prize.

"I am absolutely delighted to win the Resolution family law prize," said Jennifer, who will also be awarded prizes at the ceremony for her outstanding performance in business law and litigation. "I greatly enjoyed learning about family law and am thrilled that my hard work has been rewarded with this achievement".

Resolution's national Chairman Nicholas Longford said: "Jennifer is a hugely deserving winner for our first family law prize and we warmly congratulate her. Resolution is committed to promoting best practice in family law, and this prize is an excellent way of promoting and rewarding people who choose to enter the legal profession in these challenging economic times".

Jennifer grew up in Warrington and was educated at St Gregory's Catholic High School and then at Carmel College in St Helens. From there she went on to the University of Chester graduating in 2008 with a First Class LLB (Hons) Degree in Law before studying for her LPC at The College of Law in Chester.

Jennifer has her roots firmly in the north-west and has landed a training contract at Brighouse Wolff in Ormskirk. "I have always lived in the North West and am really pleased to have been given the opportunity to stay in the area for my traineeship," she said.

The prize-giving will take place at 3.30pm on Friday 12 February at The College of Law in Christleton, Chester.
