His Honour Judge John Altman stands down as the Senior Designated Family Judge for London and retires as a Senior Circuit Judge with effect from 9 October 2015
His Honour Judge Altman (71) was called to the Bar (M) in 1967. He was appointed a part-time Chairman of Industrial Tribunals in 1983, an Assistant Recorder in 1985, Chairman of Industrial Tribunals in 1986, a Recorder in 1989, a Circuit Judge in 1991 and a Judge of the Employment Appeal Tribunal in 1995.
He was authorised to sit as a deputy Judge of the High Court (Queen’s Bench, Chancery and Family Divisions) in 1999. He was the Designated Family Judge for Milton Keynes from 2003 to 2007 and for Oxford from 2005 to 2007.
He was appointed a Senior Circuit Judge and Designated Family Judge for London in 2007.
