CAFCASS published in August a second edition of its Domestic Violence Toolkit, edited to co-ordinate with its Safeguarding Framework. The toolkit is grounded in an understanding that a child will differ in her/his ability to cope with difficult family circumstances and with separation from a parent. The toolkit is divided into the following sections:
- Definitions
- Joint working
- Understanding the child's experience
- The impact of domestic violence on child development
- Good practice for assessment
- Identifying and reducing risk
The toolkit is available on: http://www.cafcass.gov.uk/English/Publications/policies/Domestic_Violence_toolkit_(Version_2_-_August_2007).doc
