Digital assets are thriving. New private and institutional investment is flooding into the crypto space. But why now?
This article discusses the changes and volatility observed in the cryptocurrency market that requires consideration when dealing with clients undertaking cryptoasset investment or trade. With a brief re-introduction to cryptoassets, blockchain technology, and how assets are held, we discuss the events that led to crypto winter, and why the events that crashed the market have a significant impact on the affected investors.
The article considers HMRC's study on cryptoasset ownership trends, the 2023 Law Commission report, with a focus on the importance of safeguarding, traceability, and freezing assets.
