Care applications received by Cafcass in March reach record level

In March 2015, Cafcass received a total of 1,066 applications. This figure represents a 16% increase compared to those received in March 2014.
Cafcass received a total of 11,127 new care applications in this year. This figure is 4.8% higher (507 applications) than the 10,620 applications received in the previous financial year and 0.2% (17 applications) higher than the demand during the same period in 2012-13.
The figure for March 2015 is the highest number of applications received by Cafcass in any individual month.
The highest annual total before now was the 11,110 care applications made in 2012-13.
