The decision of the Supreme Court in the case of O'Brien has been reported and one has to give credit to Dermot Patrick O'Brien who had the stamina to see this through having instigated proceedings in the Employment Tribunal on 29 September 2005 claiming, among other things, he was being discriminated against because he was a part-time worker. He was appointed as a Recorder and he continued sitting until the 31 March 20015. His victory leaves questions as to the potential for other part-time workers to come forward. Does it result in a Barder event? The article explains the claims made and its outcome.
