13% increase in care applications received by Cafcass in December

In December 2014, Cafcass received a total of
918 applications. This figure represents a
13% increase compared to those received in December 2013.
Between
April 2013 and
March 2014 Cafcass received a total of
10,617 applications.
This figure is
5% lower when compared to the same period in the previous financial year, when
11,110 applications were received.
Demand peaked during a few months. For example, new applications received in the month of April and October 2013 were the highest ever recorded by Cafcass in those individual months.
The
1,019 applications received in
July 2014 were the highest ever recorded for a single month.
