New HMCS Framework Document published

Date:7 APR 2008

The Lord Chancellor and the Lord Chief Justice have made a joint statement on a new partnership for the operation of Her Majesty's Courts Service (HMCS).

The new framework document for HMCS sets out the HMCS partnership in greater detail and gives effect to its provisions.

The new arrangements place the leadership and broad direction of HMCS in the hands of a new Board with an independent non-executive chair. Sir Duncan Nichol has been appointed to this position for a period of three years. Sir Duncan has extensive experience in public service delivery within the justice system and more widely.
