Kari has an undergraduate degree in experimental psychology from the University of Oxford and a Doctorate in clinical psychology from Widener University in the USA, graduating with distinction in 1991. She worked in adult mental health in the NHS, leaving in 1998 for full-time private practice.
Kari is the director of Carstairs Psychological Associates, a company that provides Court reports in family, civil and criminal cases. She has carried out research in psychological testing and teaches and supervise other psychologists. She obtained the Certificate of Expert Witness Accreditation from Cardiff University/Bond Solon in 2004.
In 2011, Kari gained diplomate status with the American Board of Assessment Psychology, with a specialty in forensic assessment.
Kari started training in psychoanalysis at The Site for Contemporary Psychoanalysis in 2013, offering long term insight oriented psychotherapy to adults.
